North Canterbury Basketball - Mainland Tournament


North Canterbury Basketball's Mainland teams are for NC players that are not currently on a NC National Representative Team and are interested in developing their game skills and knowledge beyond there club or high school team.

The Mainland tournament has teams from South Canterbury, Buller, West Coast, Marlborough, Nelson, Mid Canterbury, Canterbury and NC come together to compete. 

NC is seeking interested male and female for both our U15 (turning 14 or 15 in 2021) and U18 (turning 16, 17 or 18 in 2021) teams.

 

 

Programme Details:

  • NC will seek to enter even teams if requistrations numbers indicate we will have multiple teams in an age group.
  • Trials will be conducted if necessary on the Thursday 20th May. 630 -730pm for an age group if needed. 
  • Once Teams are chosen, trainings will be on the on the following dates: 
    • u15 Girls Saturdays 22nd May, 19th June 3pm - 5pm KHS
    • u18 Girls Saturdays 22nd May, 19th June 3pm - 5pm Ohoka
    • u18 Boys Sundays 23rd May, 20th June 11am - 1pm, Ohoka
    • u15 Boys Sundays 23rd May, 20th June 11am - 1pm, KHS
    • Camps on 3/4th July TBC
  • The Mainland Regional Tournament is being hosted in Christchurch July 18-20th, with both age groups competing alongside each other for the first time.

Coaches

NCBA is seeking expressions of interest for people who are interested in developing their coaching, and working with our rangitahi, if this sounds like you, please contact George Robinson 

Mainland Coaches get the opportunity to:

  • Learn more about our Regional Style of Play
  • Develop their practice planning and game management skills
  • Coaching in a tournament format
  • Be supported in their on-going development by NCBA Development Manager, George Robinson. 

 

Commitment invovled:

  • Attend one planning meeting in Term Two
  • Attend and lead the training sessions. 
  • Coach and lead a team at the Mainland Tournament held in Christchurch July 18th-20th
