Brent Chatterton

Chairperson

Brent is the proud dad of three active teenagers, all of whom have been passionate basketball players for NCBB since a young age.

With eight years of governance experience on the NZ Certified Builders Board, including two years as Chairman, Brent brings a wealth of leadership and strategic insight. His lifelong involvement in sports began with competitive rugby and cricket, complemented by a range of other sports, including basketball, which he has enjoyed socially.

Brent has also dedicated time to coaching various sports, including rugby, basketball, and cricket. Currently, he serves as the coach of the Rangiora High School 2nd XI cricket team.


Hamish Dale 

Deputy Chairperson

Originally from Ōtautahi, Hamish Dale is now a local school teacher in Kaiapoi with over 11 years of involvement in North Canterbury basketball. Starting out as a referee for Friday Night Basketball and the South Island Primary Tournament, he has worked his way up to officiating in the Sal's Men's National Basketball League, Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa, and as an International FIBA 3x3 referee.


Hamish has spent many years as a volunteer, coach, and referee, driven by a passion for growing basketball in the North Canterbury region and giving back to a sport that has played such an important role in his life.

Jo Reynolds

Secretary

Jo is a dedicated member of the North Canterbury Basketball committee, bringing her passion for supporting youth sports. Originally from New Brighton, she made the big move to Kaiapoi, where her two boys introduced her to the world of basketball—despite growing up as a rugby girl!

Jo has managed her sons' basketball teams through both North Canterbury Basketball and Kaiapoi North School, always stepping up to volunteer wherever she can. Her commitment to the game and the basketball community makes her a valued part of the NCBA team.

Nikora Jonathan

Management Committee

Proud of the association’s energy and achievements Nikora joined the NCBA committee in 2023. Over the years Nikora has contributed to many of the NCBA programs, NC Social League, FNBB, SIPTs, All Stars, Summer Development Program, Representative and recently the National Tupu Tane League. Nikora has become a versatile coach, known for his ability to build cohesion, inspire personal growth, and foster a winning mindset. His coaching philosophy continues to evolve, drawing from his extensive experience, passion for leadership, and commitment to empowering athletes on and off the court.

Outside of basketball, Nikora is deeply rooted in the North Canterbury community. He proudly calls it home and is a father of two athletic children who share his passion for sport. Nikora also dedicates time to the Canterbury Children’s Athletic Association as President and serves as the Operations Manager for the North Canterbury Athletics Club. Alongside these roles, he runs his own architectural business, managing a busy lifestyle that balances family, sports, and his professional endeavours. Despite his wide-ranging commitments, Nikora's heart remains firmly connected to basketball, particularly in supporting the growth and development of the NCBA.

Dave Parsons

Dave grew up on the West Coast, where he developed a love for mini-ball and basketball as a youngster. Now a proud father of three, he enjoys watching his children play and sharing his passion for the game. With experience coaching and managing primary school teams, Dave finds great satisfaction in seeing kids grow and have fun both on and off the court.

Originally a builder, Dave transitioned to a career as a project manager, specializing in earthquake repair claims. In his free time, he enjoys working on home projects, mountain biking, and skiing. Dave joined the committee in 2024, bringing his enthusiasm and commitment to the role.

Kelly Wiki

Kelly is a proud North Canterbury local with deep family roots in the area. With nearly 40 years of involvement in North Canterbury Basketball, she has experienced the sport from multiple angles—starting as a player competing in SIPT and national age group tournaments, and more recently as a parent and coach of junior basketball teams. She finds great joy in seeing her daughter and her teammates develop a lasting love for the game. In addition to her dedication to basketball, Kelly also contributes to her netball community at a committee level, working to support and grow the sport. Having benefited so much from her involvement in sports over the years, she is passionate about giving back to these communities. Kelly leads a busy life, balancing family, self-employment, and her sporting commitments, but she is grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on the athletes and the community she loves

Royce Sheath

Royce joined the NCBA Committee in 2024 with a vision to help shape North Canterbury Basketball into an association that our community can be proud of.

A passionate coach, Royce has been involved with NCBA since 2023, Coaching in the winter club competition, SIPT, SDP, and assisting at Mainlands. His coaching journey began with his sons' primary school team in Friday Night Basketball, and it quickly grew into a passion. Royce thrives on helping players unlock their full potential and fostering strong, united teams.

Beyond basketball, Royce runs a small computer repair business in Rangiora. He is a proud father of three amazing kids, all active in NCBA basketball at different levels. Royce is driven by a belief that, together, we can make NCBA the premier basketball association.
